Shaili Patel's Story
Hi, my name is Shaili Patel. I am suffering from End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), which means both my kidneys have failed, and I urgently need one kidney. A living donor transplant is the best chance for a long-lasting and healthy kidney. We are a family of four: my husband and two wonderful boys (8 Years old and 5 Years old). You can be a living donor(click here) and give the gift of life.

Here is a little more about me
I was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) two years ago when I did my regular physical blood tests. This all came out of the blue. At that time, my kidney function was 30%. The reason for my kidney failure is still unknown. I don't have any pre-existing conditions like high blood pressure/Diabetes/Autoimmune Disease, or inherited disease that can cause kidney failure.
My kidney function has rapidly decreased over the last year. I am currently at 11% kidney function. Once I reach 10%, The options are kidney transplant, death, or dialysis. Dialysis is a procedure that is done either daily or several times a week. A port is surgically implanted in your body, and you hook up to a machine that does the job your kidneys would normally do. Dialysis is very tough on your body and quality of life (leads to declining health and heart attack). The best solution is a kidney donation so your body can function as it was intended. I am currently active on the kidney transplant list at the UC Irvine Transplant Center in Irvine, CA. The wait time for a deceased kidney donor in California is 8 to 10 years. Unfortunately, I do not have 8-10 years. I can have a better transplant survival outcome and less chance of rejection if I find a donor very soon.
No additional medical expenses!!
Medical insurance covers all of the donor‘s medical procedures so that you won’t get a bill. And Insurance/I will cover travel expenses, if any. The donor surgery is minimally invasive and has a relatively short recovery time.
Consider Being a Living Donor
Living kidney donation is an immeasurable gift. To the recipient, their donor will always be a hero. The Living donor kidney lasts twice as long as the kidney from the deceased donor. Doctors say a timely transplant at this age will help me live another 30 years, but if that doesn’t happen, then most likely, I will only get sicker with every passing day or may even face death. A kind soul like you, DONATING one of your spare kidney is the GIFT OF LIFE I need.
